DDMBA New York Fund Raising

New York, NY, May 19 2007.

Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association (DDMBA) hosted a fundraising banquet at New York’s La Guardia Airport Marriot Hotel on May 19, 2007 to help finance the relocation of DDMBA and the Chan Meditation Center (CMC). More than three hundred guests attended the event.

Master Sheng Yen founded the Chan Meditation Center in 1979, which has become the hub for DDMBA’s Dharma activity in North America. As DDMBA founded in 1994 grew, the aging construction and limited space of the current venue posed a problem in the development of such efforts, calling for a new site for DDMBA and the Chan Meditation Center.

Venerable Guo Ming, Abbot of CMC, presided over the banquet and gave welcoming remarks followed by a video presentation denoting the various challenges faced by Master Sheng Yen in establishing a teaching center in New York. It described the need for a new site to accommodate the growing capacities of DDMBA and CMC.

We would like to thank all volunteers and honorable guests for their continued and endless support.
