From November 6–8, 2020, Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association (DDMBA) and the Global Peace Initiative of Women (GPIW) convened a webinar on Inner Dimensions of Climate Change. The meeting was held over 3 days and included 40 youth delegates whom had attended regional Inner Dimensions of Climate Change meetings over the past four years. Rabbi Rami Shapiro, a podcast host and award-wining author on religion and spirituality moderated the discussion. Three mentors gave introductory remarks on each theme and facilitated an interactive discussion with the youth leaders.
Tiokasin Ghosthorse, from the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation, spoke the first day on “Shifting our Worldview and Valuing Nature”. On day two, the conversation continued with Dr. Vandana Shiva, scientist, author and the founder of Navdanya, on “Integrating Traditional Knowledge Systems”. Manish Jain, founder of Shikshanter, spoke on the final day of the meeting on strengthening local communities, education and challenging our conceptions.
DDMBA plans to continue hosting the Inner Dimensions discussions with its network of inspired young leaders to support their important work in making the planet a better place for people and nature.
